The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, as the new Commissioner of Police for Kano State. Bakori, who hails from Katsina State, takes over from CP Salman Garba Dogo, recently promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).
Until his new posting, CP Bakori was the Commissioner of Police Homicide, Force Investigation Department, Abuja. His extensive career includes serving as the Commander of Bayelsa State Joint Task Force, Operation Doo Akpo, and holding key positions in Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akure. He has also served as Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General of Police.
The Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), has tasked CP Bakori with ensuring peace and security in Kano State. He emphasized the need for the new commissioner to swiftly tackle crime, enhance security, and safeguard citizens’ freedom of movement and business activities. Argungu also advised him to conduct a crime-mapping exercise to strategically combat criminal activities in the state.
The PSC has communicated its approval to the Inspector General of Police for implementation through a letter signed by the Commission’s Secretary, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.
