The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment of Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, replacing the former Commissioner Adegoke Fayoade following a reshuffle triggered by recent promotions within the Nigeria Police Force.
Olanrewaju, who previously headed the Ports Authority Command, brings with him a wealth of experience in securing vital national assets and overseeing maritime security.
The PSC also announced new police chiefs to man Akwa-Ibom, Abia and Ebonyi states. They are Isah Danladi Nda (Abia), Anthonia Adaku Uche Anya (Ebonyi), and Miller Gajere Dantawaye (Akwa Ibom).
The PSC’s appointments were announced today by its Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), who emphasized the importance of the postings in bolstering the country’s security infrastructure.
Olanrewaju’s selection reflects his proven track record of leadership and his ability to manage high-pressure situations, especially in a complex and bustling environment like Lagos.
DIG Argungu stressed that the newly appointed Commissioners must hit the ground running, citing the urgency of improving security across their respective states. He encouraged the new CPs to build a competitive, competent, and efficient police force, while pledging that the PSC will monitor their performance closely to ensure optimal service delivery.
Olanrewaju’s experience at the Ports Authority Command positions him well to tackle security issues in Lagos, a major port city and the economic gateway to the country. His tenure was marked by effective coordination between different security agencies, a key skill that will serve him well in his new post.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the PSC has conveyed the approval of these postings to the Inspector General of Police for immediate implementation.
