Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, briefly stumbled and fell during a reception parade organised in his honour in Türkiye, according to a video obtained by Newsmakerslive.org.
The footage shows the President losing his footing while exchanging pleasantries with officials during the ceremonial parade.
He was promptly assisted by aides and officials present at the event.
The incident occurred shortly after President Tinubu arrived in Ankara on a state visit.
In a statement published on Monday, the State House confirmed that the President landed in the Turkish capital at exactly 9:03pm. local time.
He was received at Ankara Esenboğa Airport by a Turkish government delegation led by the Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin.
Also present were the Chargé d’Affaires at the Nigerian Embassy in Türkiye, Ambassador Zayyad Abdulsalam, along with other embassy officials.
A separate statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said President Tinubu was later received at his hotel by senior members of the Nigerian delegation.
They included the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake; and the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd).
Other officials at the hotel reception were the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Udeh, SAN; the Minister of State for Industry, John Enoh; the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Babajimi Benson; the Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
According to the State House, the visit is aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the Republic of Türkiye and exploring additional areas of cooperation to deepen a mutually beneficial partnership.
President Tinubu is expected to hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the visit.
The programme will also feature the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding between both countries, alongside other official engagements.
