The Presidency has faulted an article by Financial Times criticising President Muhammadu Buhari’s latest policy on good imports.
Buhari had last week directed the Central Bank of Nigeria to stop providing forex for importation of food items.
The article titled, ‘Muhammadu Buhari sparks dismay over policy shift on food imports’, was published on August 15.
In a rejoinder signed by Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Garba Shehu, the Presidency described the assertion of Financial Times as “incorrect”.
“To be absolutely clear, there is no ban – or restriction – on the importation of food items whatsoever,” the rejoinder further noted.
