The management of the English premiership said it would convene an emergency club meeting today following reports that Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta, has tested positive for coronavirus.
The Premier League said in a statement late yesterday that the meeting would determine whether the league would be suspended or not.
It had earlier announced that this weekend’s matches would proceed as scheduled before the latest development.
The statement reads, “In light of Arsenal’s announcement tonight confirming that their first-team coach Mikel Arteta has tested positive for COVID-19, the Premier League will convene an emergency club meeting tomorrow morning regarding future fixtures.
“The Premier League will make no further comment until after that meeting.”
