Practise What you Preach: Ondo First Lady Endorses Post Criticising Kumuyi for Attending Aso Rock Christmas Party

Femi Ashekun/

Wife of Ondo State governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has reshared and endorsed a Facebook post that criticised the General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi.

The original post, which was shared by IPromotv, had queried Kumuyi’s rationale for attending the Aso Rock Christmas Carol held at the State House, Abuja, on Monday, despite his well-documented stance against such celebration.

The post accused Kumuyi of misleading his church members and followers by consistently preaching against Christmas celebration, same way he demonised watching television for years, only to now use same to propagate his ministry worldwide.

Apart from sharing the post, the Ondo State first lady also justified her action in subsequent replies to her followers’ reactions.

In one, she argued that religion had done more harm than good for the country, adding that “there is need to call out Nigerians who follow their so-called men and women of God sheepishly …..”

To another follower who reminded her that it was Christianity that heralded education and modern medicine, which ultimately healed her of cancer, Mrs Akeredolu responded that it was the power of science and not religion that saved her.
