Six policemen who reportedly abducted and robbed a software developer, Toni Astro, in Lagos last week will face an orderly room trial today.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the trial of the policemen might likely take place at the Zone ‘2’ Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.

The victim had tweeted about his experience, following which the officers who harassed and extorted him were arrested and remanded in custody.

The money they took from had also been reportedly recovered from the rogue policemen.

Astro said he was on his way home on September 28 when he was accosted by SARS officers in the Ketu area of Lagos Mainland who insisted he must follow them to their station for no discernible reason.

He said one of the officers also threatened to shoot him in the leg if he did not comply.

At the station, they asked for a million naira in exchange for his freedom.

At their Ogudu Area H command office, Astro said he was physically assaulted in the hopes that he would confess to being an internet fraudster when they discovered he had a laptop with him.

In between slaps and punches, they haggled over his ransom, untill he agreed to go to the nearest ATM where he was forced to withdraw half the money in his account.

It was then that he was handed his computer and other belongings and asked to go.
