Policeman Shoots Wife to Death, Commits Suicide

A police sergeant in Ondo has reportedly committed suicide after shooting his wife dead at Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the sergeant simply identified as Tolulope, who joined the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in 2008 killed the wife who was nursing a 3-week-old baby and a 2-year-old child.

He allegedly killed the wife after he returned from work. Neighbours revealed that Tolulope had been having trust issues with his wife over the manner in which she was receiving phone calls from strange men.

The late sergeant was described as an indigene of Supare-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo, Teeleo Ikoro, described the incident as unfortunate. He said that investigations had begun on the matter.

The PPRO stated that the sergeant and his wife were the only one at home when the incident happened hence no one could ascertain what led to the killings.

Tolulope was attached to the Akungba Divisional Headquarters.
