The Nigeria Police Force has detained a policeman featured in a viral video alongside the sons of prominent Lagos businessman, Chief Razaq Okoya, where they were allegedly abusing the naira.
The footage, which sparked widespread condemnation, has been described as unethical and unbecoming of a law enforcement officer.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made the announcement via his official X account.
He stated, “The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of the Lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action. The involvement of the policeman has been condemned, as it’s unethical. We will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police. Thanks.”
While Adejobi confirmed action against the officer, he was silent on the involvement or potential repercussions for Chief Okoya’s children, whose actions in the video have also drawn public scrutiny.
