Police investigating the mysterious death of a family of five today in an apartment at Shagamu area of Ogun State have warned residents on the use of lethal chemicals in fumigation.
Ogun State police spokesman, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi told NewsmakersNG that preliminary investigations revealed that the family slept inside the house after a fumigation exercise.
He said that the possibilty of death through generator fume was not there because there was power supply throughout the night in the area.
Policemen who visited the scene perceived strong odour of poisonous gas used in eliminating pests in the house.
“When you fumigate, don’t sleep in the house,” Oyeyemi said.
He added that the Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmed Iliyasu had ordered further investigation into the matter.
