Police Reveal How ‘Mummy Calm Down’ Died

The police in Edo State have revealed that Toluige Olokoobi Babalola, mother of the four-year-old boy, Oreofeoluwa Lawal-Babalola, in a viral 2020 ‘Mummy Calm Down’ video, died by hanging.

Chidi Nwabuzor, the spokesperson for the Edo State police command, said the husband, Lawal Babalola, reported the matter to the police.

The police spokesperson quoted the husband to have said that “he came home from the market when he saw his wife hanging with rope on her neck”.

Nwabuzor said she was rushed to the hospital and then to the mortuary after she was confirmed dead.

She added that the husband was subsequently arrested and detained for questioning.

It was gathered the husband was released today after spending three days in police custody.

Meanwhile, a family friend, who pleaded to remain anonymous, confided in Newsmakerslive.org that the deceased had been suffering from post-partum depression since she had her third child a year ago and this eventually led to taking her own life.
