After spending 42 days in kidnappers den, a 2-year-old girl has been rescued by the police in Lagos today.

Officers at Igando police station in Lagos, led by CSP Taiwo Kasumu rescued the child, who was kidnapped at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church in Agege area of the state on March 24.

According to a statement from the state police spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana, two suspects were arrested in connection with the crime.

Elkana told NewsmakersNG that CSP Kasumu, who is the Divisional Police Officer at Igando Police Station and his plain-clothes surveillance men acting on credible information at about 8am today went on the trail of suspected kidnappers who abducted the 2-year-old girl known as Esther Ojo from MFM Regional Headquarters, at Agege on March 24, 2019 at about 12:30pm.

Elkana stated: “The kidnappers, one Nwaigbo Magnus and Sixtus Osunwoke Egwim already demanded ransom of undisclosed amount from the parents of the baby and the church. The kidnappers continued to change the venue for the collection of ransom within Igando axis for over 4 hours until they were rounded up by the police.

“Upon interrogation, the DPO followed up on available information and the baby has been recovered from a hidden den and reunited with the parents, Mr and Mrs Jame Oladipo Ojo and well wishers all crying for joy.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State (CP) Zubairu Muazu mni directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate and charge the suspects to Court.
