Police Rescue Abducted Woman, Two-Year-Old Son after Gun Battle with Kidnappers in Kwara

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued a 43-year-old abducted woman and her two-year-old son from a kidnappers’ hideout deep inside a forest in Kwara State after a tactical operation that forced the criminals to flee under heavy pressure.

The rescue operation was carried out today by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), working in collaboration with local security support groups, following credible intelligence on the victims’ whereabouts.

According to a statement issued today by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, the operation was conducted in a forest at Bode Sadu, where the victims were reportedly held captive.

The statement said the kidnappers opened fire on the advancing security operatives in an attempt to resist the operation. However, the police responded swiftly with superior tactical firepower, forcing the suspects to flee deeper into the forest.

The operatives subsequently combed the area and successfully rescued the victims, identified as 43-year-old Adijat Kuburat and her two-year-old son, Abdul Malik Hamzat, from the kidnappers’ hideout.

Both victims were immediately taken to a medical facility, where they are receiving treatment and appropriate care.

The police said efforts have been intensified to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network responsible for the abduction.

Commending the operatives for their bravery and professionalism, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes through intelligence-driven and collaborative security operations.

He assured Nigerians that the Force would continue to pursue criminal elements until they are brought to justice.
