Police Rescue 8 Kidnap Victims, Arrest 22 Suspects in Zamfara

Police in Zamfara State have rescued eight victims of kidnapping from Gidan Barga village in Tsafe Loca government and Dangajeru village in Talata Mafara local government areas of the state.

They also arrested 22 suspected criminals.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Abutu Yaro, disclosed this during a press conference at the Command Headquarters in Gusau, yesterday.

Yaro explained that the 22 suspects were arrested for various crimes bordering on banditry, murder and car theft committed in different parts of the state.

He said police operatives also recovered some weapons from suspected bandits.

“Our efforts in the last three weeks yielded further substantial result in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 18 rounds of live ammunition in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

“That happened on January 15, 2021 when the DPO Shinkafi in collaboration with leaders of the repentant bandits in that community facilitated the unconditional surrender of one AK-47 magazine with two magazines and 18 live ammunition,” the police boss disclosed.

Yaro said the police would not relent in their efforts to flush out criminals from Zamfara State.
