According to the Zone ‘2’ Command spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos, seven suspects were held in connection with the crime.

Badmos told NewsmakersNG how the gang was smashed.

She said that the police had on October 6 received information that suspected armed robbers snatched a Toyota Camry from Lagos heading towards Sango Otta area of Ogun State.

“A team of ZIS operatives were detailed to track the suspects,” she said. “In the process, three suspects were apprehended. The suspects, while under investigation, confessed that they specialized in robbing unsuspecting citizens of their vehicles and also remove cars from where parked. They stated further that they majorly operate within Bariga, Oworonshoki, and Shomolu area of Lagos with the help of a guard employed by the community. Their confession led to the arrest of four more suspects who specialize in buying the stolen vehicles. A total number of 26 vehicles were recovered from the suspects.”

While parading the suspects today, AIG Ibrahim said that the Zone ‘2’ Command, covering Lagos and Ogun State, would continue to do everything possible to end activities of hoodlums within the zone; moreso that the yuletide season is fast approaching. He implored everyone who has lost vehicle(s) in recent past to visit the Command headquarters at Onikan to crosscheck for possible recovery.

The arrested suspects were identified as Joshua Tabiti, Moses Ofoke, Oluseye Arokoyo, Ahmed Alli, Folorunsho Ojowuro, Christopher Mmadike and Samuel Bolala.

Badmos said that they would be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation.
