Police have launched an investigation into a disturbing viral video showing a man, identified as Odukaye Kunle, brutally assaulting his young son, Boluwatife, during a domestic dispute with his wife.

The incident reportedly took place at 16 Popoola Street, Oko Baale, Ado Odo Ota, Ogun State.

The video, which has sparked widespread outrage, captures the horrific scene of Kunle venting his anger on his innocent son.

The toddler is seen attempting to approach his father with affection, seeking a hug, when Kunle suddenly hit him with shocking intensity, sending the toddler flying into the air before landing on the ground. This act of love from Boluwatife contrasts sharply with his father’s uncontrollable anger, leaving viewers heartbroken and enraged.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, addressed the incident in a social media post, condemning the act and emphasising the dangers of unchecked anger.

He wrote, “Anger is evil and destructive. Do you know that the young boy, Boluwatife, who was brutalised by his biological father in the viral video, wanted to even hug his dad to show affection? The innocent boy was so much maltreated because of anger. Let’s always manage our anger no matter the provocation. Thanks to you all for your concern. We are still on the matter.”

The video has drawn significant attention on social media, with calls for immediate legal action against Odukaye Kunle to protect the boy and ensure justice.

Many have described the father’s actions as inhumane, with demands for better measures to address domestic violence and child abuse in Nigeria.

Authorities have assured the public that they are working on the case to ensure accountability.

The police also reiterated their commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals, especially children, from abuse and urged citizens to manage their emotions during conflicts.
