Lagos State government has disclosed plans to introduce the use of body camera by police officers in the state.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who disclosed this today, said the decision was aimed at enhancing public safety, increasing investors’ confidence and increasing transparency and accountability in the activities of law enforcement agencies.

The governor stated, “To enhance public safety and increase investors confidence, I approved the use of body cameras and mass training of its use for law enforcement personnel in Lagos.

“This move will increase the transparency and accountability in the activities of our law enforcement agencies.

“The security challenges in different parts of the country are worrisome, but with proactive action, use of modern technological tools, and well-trained and intelligent personnel, we will successfully combat many of these challenges.

“The goal is a safer Lagos.”
