Five men suspected to be armed robbers terrorizing Osiele community and its environs in Ogun State have been arrested by officers attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The suspects were identified as 39-year-old Dayo Ajala a.k.a Otege, Ismaila Badmus a.k.a Obasanjo, 35, Joseph Sunday a.k.a J.J, 24; Chuckwuemeka Paul a.k.a Ejima, 27, and Okikiola Adeshina, 46.
The police also arrested their herbalist following information received by the SARS operatives about their hideout at Odeda area.
According to Ogun State police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Officer in Charge of SARS, CSP Tijani Muhammed, led his men to the area and cordoned off the hideout. At the end of the operation, four suspected members of the gang were nabbed. Their arrest led to that of their herbalist who they claimed is their godfather that used to fortify them spiritually whenever they are going out for operation and also used to initiate new member into their fold.
Items allegedly recovered from them included one double barrel locally made short gun, one battle axe, two knives and assorted charms.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered a full-scale investigation into the activities of the suspects after which they will be prosecuted.
