Residents of Igando, Ikotun, Idimu and surrounding areas in Alimosho Local Government, Lagos, have raised alarm over what they described as incessant robbery incidents carried out by armed hoodlums in recent weeks.

In a post on X, a user, @adeifeshile, called on the Lagos State Police Command to urgently address the situation, lamenting that robbers armed with dane guns operate in the area “as if police don’t exist.”

The concern comes amid growing unease about security in the sprawling Alimosho axis, where residents say night-time attacks and armed invasions have become more frequent.

Reacting to the complaints, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the command was aware of the latest incident and assured residents that measures have been put in place to strengthen security.

“I can confirm that the injured person is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital,” Adebisi said in a series of posts on X. “The Commissioner of Police has directed the Area Commander and DPOs in the area to intensify both foot and vehicular patrols to enhance security presence and prevent a recurrence.”

He added that investigations are already ongoing and efforts are being made to identify and bring the culprits to justice.

The police also urged residents to provide any useful information that could aid the probe.
