Going after kidnappers often comes with serious consequences.
That was the situation on March 21, 2019, when the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Inspector General of Police embarked on anti-kidnapping operation in Plateau State and came back with one man down.
According to police authorities, 40-year-old Sgt Shaibu Sunday was killed by the villains during a fierce gun battle.
The IRT Commander, DCP Abba Kyari said, “Several of the kidnappers were arrested but sadly one of ours died in the line of duty during a gunbattle.”
The late Sunday, who is survived by a wife – Mrs Onyeche Sunday and eight children, according to an announcement by the family, will be buried on April 5, 2019.
