The police in Ogun have launched a manhunt for a suspected soldier who allegedly shot a man dead because a truck was not well packed.

According to eyewitness accounts, a motor-boy, identified as Aro, was shot dead shortly after his boss left him in their truck packed at a carwash centre in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Newsmakersng learnt that the shooter had also brought an unmarked Toyota Sienna car to the carwash centre near Sam Ewang Estate, in Abeokuta.

“After washing his car, he complained that the fuel tanker the boy was working on had blocked his passage,” the eyewitness said. He then approached the motor-boy and asked him to look for his boss to remove the truck for him to have a passage.

“The trailer with registration number TTD 456XA and the inscription – NIPCO, was also brought for washing, and it was waiting for a parking space.

“The‎ driver was said to have taken a stroll within the vicinity, when the gunman approached the motor-boy sitting inside the truck.

“Aro was said to be pacifying the man for him let him go and call the driver. To the shock of the staff of the centre and customers, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the motor-boy in the heart region at a close range, resulting in instant death. He then ran away with his car.”

Reports say, the Ogun State commissioner of police, Mr Ahmed Iliyasu promptly visited the crime scene and mandated his men to find the killer.

Meanwhile, some human rights lawyers and activists in the state have expressed dismay over the cold blooded murder, and they have volunteered to pursue the matter until the victim’s family gets justice.
