Police Identify Officer Shot by Shitte Muslim Protesters in Abuja

Police authorities have identified an officer who was shot and battered during a violent protest by the Shittes sect in Abuja on Monday.

Identified as SP Linus Oga, the police told NewsmakersNG that the officer and one police woman were badly wounded and admitted at Garki hospital, in Abuja, during the attack at Eagle Square area.

The sect members allegedly became violent as they were prevented from accessing Shehu Shagari Way to the National Assembly.

A police statement says: “They hauled stones and pebbles on police and other passersby. In the fracas, they injured SP Linus Oga attached to Central Police Station in FCT. He was badly wounded and admitted at Garki hospital. The miscreants also vandalized a police patrol vehicle attached to CPS. Twenty-two suspects were arrested and handed over to SARS FCT. Further development will be communicated please.”
