Nigeria’s leading crime fighting agencies have agreed to work together like never before to achieve a common objective.
According to a statement issued by police spokesman, DCP Don Awunah, the accord between the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was reached today when the Acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Magu told Idris about EFCC’s plan to launch a programme mobilising women against corruption and appealed to the IGP to deploy women police participants at the event holding at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
Idris pledged that the police “will continue to provide necessary support and cooperation to EFCC in tackling corruption and other areas of its operations”.
He commended Magu for his proven track records and significant achievements recorded so far after taking over the leadership of the Commission.
He also assured him of police participation in EFCC’s forthcoming project tagged “Women against Corruption Project”.
In his remarks, Magu commended the IGP for the good working relationship between the EFCC and the NPF, as he sought for more police support and cooperation on other activities of the commission.
Magu stressed that he had observed keenly several achievements recorded by the NPF under the leadership of the IGP in the fight against crime and criminality across the country.
