Police have reportedly shut down the venue of Nigeria’s popular transgender, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, nude birthday party in Lekki, Lagos.

Eyewitnesses said the policemen who came in several operational vehicles also attempted to arrest Bobrisky himself but he managed to evade them.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the policemen thereafter chased away all the guests from the venue and arrested a few who refused to leave voluntarily.

Those arrested are reportedly being detained at Maroko Police Station, Lekki.

The Pearl Gardens, Wole Olateju Crescent, Off Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1 venue of the party is currently being surrounded by a team of policemen.

The two-day birthday parties Bobrisky had put together for himself were to take place today and tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s party themed: Bobrisky Beach House Party, was scheduled for 11 am at Paradise Boat Club, Plot 8, Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island, while guests were to later converge on Club DNA, 76 Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island for the after-party.

Confirming the development, spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said: “The operation is currently ongoing. It is true that we have sealed up the venue of the party based on some intelligence.

“Considering the pedigree of the celebrant, the event may likely cause a breach of public peace and it is expected that no immoral display should be allowed.

“To augment security at each of the venues, ACPOL Area ‘A’ Lion Building/SUPOL Victoria Island mobilised 50 men to provide security at Club DNA, No 76 Adetokunbo Ademola Street, opposite Eko Hotel and Suite, Victoria Island and Paradise Boat Club, Plot 8, Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island.”
