Police Chief in Sudden Death

The death has been announced of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 5, comprising Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa states.

According to a police spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakil, AIG Lawan Tanko Jimeta died at the Teaching Hospital, in Benin, Edo State capital, where he was rushed to early today, during a brief Illness.

Wakil stated in a post on social media: “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. With a heavy heart but total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I wish to announce the death of AIG Lawan Tanko Jimeta.

“He died at the Teaching Hospital, Benin, Edo State, this morning after a brief Illness.”
