Police Chain Dino Melaye, Insist on Trial in Kogi

Matilda Omonaiye/

Hard fighting Senator Dino Melaye has been kept in chains by the police, after he was rearrested at an hospital in Abuja yesterday.

Melaye was rushed to the Zanklin hospital in Utako District after he allegedly jumped off a police vehicle conveying him to Lokoja, in Kogi State, to face trial.

He was rearrested at the hospital, along with his doctors and family members, and taken to the National Hospital, in Abuja.

NewsmakersNG learnt that Melaye has asked his lawyers to make application for enforcement of an earlier Court judgement which ordered the transfer of his case from Lokoja to Abuja.

Curiously, none of the Senators who have been standing by Melaye has visited him in the hospital and the Senate is yet to make a statement on his ordeal.

Melaye has been accused of arms possession and having links with suspected criminals now in police custody.
