Police authorities have dismissed as false and malicious a report by SaharaReporters.com alleging that Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Adegoke Fayoade has been removed as head of Zone 2 Command, Lagos.

The report, which claimed that Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun had redeployed Fayoade to stop his “planned emergence as the next Police Boss,” has been described as baseless fake news designed to mislead the public, damage relationships, and tarnish the image of a distinguished officer.

A senior police source who spoke on the matter categorically stated that AIG Fayoade remains in charge of Zone 2, overseeing Lagos and Ogun states.

“There is no truth whatsoever in the publication. The AIG remains committed to his duties and enjoys the confidence of the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Management Team,” the source clarified.

He urged Nigerians to disregard the “fabricated story” and be wary of platforms bent on spreading disinformation to undermine public trust in the Police.

Widely respected as one of the most innovative police leaders of his generation, AIG Adegoke Fayoade has built a reputation for professionalism, discipline, loyalty, and reform-minded leadership.

As Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Fayoade initiated bold strategies that improved community policing, enhanced rapid response systems, and restored confidence in law enforcement across the state. His proactive crime-fighting measures drastically reduced incidents of violent crime, while his emphasis on intelligence-led policing set new standards in operational excellence.

NewsmakersNG also learned that in his current role as AIG Zone 2, Fayoade continues to demonstrate visionary leadership. He has strengthened inter-agency collaboration, prioritized officers’ welfare, and championed training programs that equip policemen and women for modern security challenges.

Beyond his professional competence, Fayoade is celebrated for his accessibility, humility, and passion for mentoring younger officers. Colleagues and stakeholders describe him as a trailblazer whose legacy is already shaping the future of policing in Nigeria.

The Police, while reaffirming their commitment to transparency and professionalism, urged the public and media practitioners to verify information before dissemination.

“AIG Fayoade remains at his post, diligently serving the nation. His remarkable achievements cannot be erased by fake news,” the source emphasized.
