Police Arrest ‘Notorious Cultist’, Recover Pistol in Lagos

The police in Lagos have arrested a suspected armed robber and alleged notorious cultist in the Ebute Metta area of the state.

According to police authorities, a locally made pistol, cartridge and charms were recovered from the suspect.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Odeshola Afeez, was nabbed following a distress call from residents who reported that a young man was harassing passers-by and causing panic within the community.

According to the Police, officers swiftly mobilised to the scene after receiving the alert and arrested the suspect during the operation.

A search conducted on Afeez reportedly led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, one live cartridge and suspected local charms concealed on him.

Police authorities said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a notorious cultist who had allegedly been terrorising residents and engaging in activities capable of disrupting public peace in the area.

The Command added that the suspect had allegedly evaded arrest on several occasions before he was eventually captured by operatives.

The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, commended the officers for their prompt response and professionalism during the operation.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating cultism, armed robbery and other violent crimes across the state.

The Police also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies through the Command’s emergency lines.
