Police investigating the defilement of three girls in Ogun State have held a suspect.
Identified as 43-year-old Ini Udoh, the suspect was accused of having unlawful carnal knowledge of three minors, including a 9-year-old and 12-year-old.
Ogun State police spokesman, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, says in a statement: “It was gathered that the suspect who lives in the same compound at No 2 Agboola Close, off Ijoko Road, Sango, with the victims’ parents, used to lure the girls into his room whenever their parents and his own wife are not around under the pretence of sending them on errand and had sex with them at different time.
“Trouble started when the mother of one of the girls noticed what looked like a sperm in her pant while washing it and this aroused her curiosity which made her to question the girl properly.
“It was this that led to revelation that the suspect has been having sex with her and two others whenever their parents were not at home.
“On hearing this, the fathers of the three girls namely: Lateef Sikiru, Lawrence Effiom and Ikechukwu Udozor jointly made a report at Sango police station consequent upon which the DPO, SP Akinsola Ogunwale detailed detectives to effect the arrest of the randy suspect.”
Oyeyemi said that the three victims had been taken to the General Hospital for medical attention and report.
According to him, the state commissioner of police, Mr Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered immediate transfer of the case to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution of the suspect.
“He also warned parents to always take the security and wellbeing of their children seriously, especially the female ones in order not to make them easy prey in the hands of all these shameless old predators,” Oyeyemi said.
