Ogun State police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi told NewsmakersNG that trouble started for the fake military man when an operational vehicle of the Nigerian Army was passing and the suspect started running away, thereby arousing the suspicion of the police patrol team that went after him.

Oyeyemi stated: “He was taken before the DPO Redeem Division CSP Olaiya Martins who thoroughly interrogated him. Consequent upon which he confessed to being a fake soldier. He further confessed to using the uniform to escort vehicles and for other illegal military duties.

“The DPO quickly ordered for a search warrant to be executed in his house and the following items were recovered from him: two green military trousers, one green belt, one green cardigan, one military green beret cap, one military face-cap, one green mask, one military bout, one military haversack, and five different identity cards with his passport photograph and some military-related documents.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad (FSARS) for discreet investigation.
