Police Arrest Evil Stepmother, Father, Who Tried to Kill Their Girl in Ogun

After spending two days with a sliced-off finger and body bound in a sack left by a roadside, in Ogun State, a rescued 7-year-old girl has named those who tried to kill her.

Identified as Abibat Anike Adeyemo, the girl told the police in Ogun that her father and stepmother committed the crime.

According to the police spokesman in Ogun, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, quick response by the police saved the life of the girl, who was found in a sack and dumped along Papalanto/Sagamu Road, at Asabala area of the state.

Oyeyemi told Newsmakers that Abibat’s father, Nasiru Adeyemo, and the stepmother, Idayat Adeyemo, were arrested shortly after the rescued girl regained consciousness and mentioned them as the culprits.

Oyeyemi said, “They were arrested for attempting to use a 7-year-old girl Abibat Anike Adeyemo for a ritual. The police had received a distress call from members of the public that a strange load in a sack was sighted by the road side at Asabala area along Papalanto/Sagamu Road.

“On the strength of the information, the DPO at Owode Egba, CSP Shehu Alao, led his men to the scene where the load which was inside a white rice sack was untied. Surprisingly, it was a 7-year-old girl with one of her right hand fingers cut off that was tied and put inside the sack and dumped at the road side since Friday, August 11, 2017.

“Having realized that the girl is still alive, she was quickly taken to the hospital for medical attention. It was when she regained consciousness that she informed the Police that her father and stepmother were the ones who cut off one of her fingers before tying her up and then put her inside the sack and dumped her inside the bush for her to die there. Upon the information from the victim, serious manhunt was launched for the father and his wife and they were arrested in the evening of Sunday, August 13.

“The duo are currently undergoing interrogation. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the transfer of the case to Anti-Kidnapping/Cultist section for further investigation and possible prosecution of the suspects.”
