Five rams have been arrested and taken into custody at the Ladegboye base of the Zonal Intervention Squad, Ikorodu, NewsmakersNG learnt today.

According to a complainant, Mr Akanbi Maigida, who reported the matter to NewsmakersNG, the rams were seized by policemen who raided a mechanic workshop in Ikorodu area of Lagos after receiving a report that a Lexus SUV was vandalized at the place last night.

The police allegedly moved in after receiving the report that the car’s brainbox was stolen overnight.

Maigida said, “I love to keep rams as a Muslim and as an enthusiast. I discovered some young guys in love with this act and I gave them the rams to keep and nurture for me. At intervals, I do pay for the upkeeps.

“An incident occurred last night at a mechanic workshop within the compound in which the rams are being reared, a Lexus SUV was vandalized and the owner brought in policemen led by one Esho from Ladegboye police station. Some of the mechanics were arrested and taken to the police station, but the surprise here is that my rams were also arrested along with the mechanics. They are kept at the Zonal Intervention Squad base called Zone 2, Ladegboye Base, Ikorodu.

“My questions are: Why the rams? Can the rams be prosecuted? For what offence? The main suspect has been arrested. So why detain the rams that have no connection with the alleged crime?”

When contacted, officers at the station said they would not release the ram unless the shepherd is brought to the station.
