Two suspects have been held by the police in Akwa Ibom after a girl searching for a job on Twitter was lured to her death by another Twitter user who offered her employment.
The victim, Iniobong Umoren aka Hiny Humoren, who goes by the name Iron Lady on Twitter made an announcement on April 29 seeking a job. One of those who responded offered her a job and asked her to meet him at a place at Ibiaku, along Oron Road (Airport Road). The man offering the job reportedly called the victim on 08127530092.
That was the beginning of the end for Hiny.
Her post says:
Shortly after Hiny’s post, her close friend, Umoh Uduak, raised an alarm on Twitter thus:
“Y’all my friend @HinyHumoren is in trouble and she needs our help.
I’m currently in Lagos and I can’t help than to put this out there.
Earlier today she told me she was going for a job interview at airport road which is quite far from her house.
To cut everything short, she sent me a 1sec audio record on WhatsApp and I had to call her back to know if she wanted to say something to me but immediately I called her. I heard her screaming.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Someone, please help her out.”
While responding to the distress message, the police announced the arrest of two suspects.
The announcement says:
“@PoliceNG Anti-Kidnapping Squad of Akwa Ibom State Command is already investigating this case. As a matter of fact, two suspects have been arrested. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.”
NewsmakersNG learnt that on getting to the spot where she was asked to come, Hiny sent a one-second voice note in which a wave of struggles was detected.
The suspected abductor has been identified as one Uduak Frank Akpan.
Detectives have now found the missing girl murdered and buried in a shallow grave in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State after she was raped.
