Two men linked with Nigerian pop star, Innocent Ujah Idibia, known by his stage name Tuface, have been arraigned by the police over alleged forgery.
They were identified as his manager and one other associate.
The suspects, Efe Omoregie and Joel Ajayi were dragged before Chief Magistrate O. O. Oshin (Mrs), of Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, by policemen from Zone 2 Command, Onikan.
The police in the charge marked A/29/2018 alleged that Efe, 47, and Ajayi, 61, and others now at large, on December 7, 2017, at 41, Oluwaleyimu Street, Ikeja, Lagos, with an intent to defraud, forged letter head papers of Copyright Society of Nigeria Ltd (COSON) with intent that it might be acted upon or used as genuine whether in Nigeria or elsewhere to the prejudice of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON).

The police also claimed that the two accused persons, on the said date, conducted themselves in a manner likely to breach public peace, by unlawfully invading and disrupting a meeting presided over by Chief Tony Okoroji.

The offences according to the prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Memeh, who stood in for Inspector Stephen Molo, are contrary to sections 363, 366(1) and 168(d) and punishable under sections 376 of the criminal laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2015.

The two men however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In view of their plea, the prosecutor, urged the court to remand them in prison custody pending trial.

But their lawyers, Ehiwele and Chibuzor Nwakobi, pleaded with the court to grant their clients bail in the most liberal terms.

Chief Magistrate Oshin subsequently, admitted them to bail in the sum of N250, 000, with one surety each.

The surety, according to the Chief Magistrate, are to file before the court evidence of three years tax payable to Lagos State government, alongside means of livelihood, while their residential addresses must be verified by the prosecutor.

The matter has been adjourned till May 17 for mention.

The Chief Magistrate, however, ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody pending the fulfilment of the bail terms.
