The wife of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, has convered to Islam from Christianity.
Born Joyce Anene, the queen was said to have submitted to her husband’s persuasions to convert to Islam.
The ceremony reportedly took place during the Ibadan North East Local Government Ramadan Lecture, held on Monday, at Ibadan Central Praying Ground, Agodi Gate, under the chairmanship of Honourable Ibraheem Akintayo.
Olori Joyce, who is a princess from Onitsha, Anambra State, affirmed her new faith by pronouncing Kalimatul Shahadah (the Muslim profession of faith), while being led by the Grand Imam of Oyo-State, Sheikh Abdul Ganiyy Abubakry Agbotomokekere.
The queen is now to be addressed as Olori Khadijah Mahood Lekan Balogun.
