The police in Oyo were taught the nitty-gritty of the Transformation Agenda of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu today ahead of the inauguration of a Community Policing Advisory Committee in the state tomorrow.
In a lecture titled ‘The Concept of Community Policing’, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Research and Planning, DIG Adeleye Olushola Oyebade discussed the Ideals of Intelligence-led Policing, Tenets of Fundamental Human Rights/Rule of Law, Challenges in Contemporary Policing especially during the pandemic, Understanding the Nature of the Pandemic – Overcrowding in the cell, Safety of personnel, Social distancing, Use of face masks and hand sanitizer, and washing of hands regularly.
The lecture also touched on Discretionary Policing in enforcing Covid-19 rules, Professionalism – social media challenge, Zero tolerance for Corruption, Use of Firearms (F.O. 237), Police Conduct During Elections – Ondo, Edo, and Core Values of Policing – Honesty, Diligence, Perseverance, and Discipline.
After the lecture, DIG Oyebade who is also in charge of South-West Geopolitical Zone was invited to oversee the decoration of newly promoted officers at the state command headquarters in Ibadan.
