It was an emotional scene in Ibadan as veteran Nollywood stars, including Dele Odule, Olaiya Igwe (Ebun Oloyede), Ronke Odusanya, Bimbo Oshin, and Dupe Jaiyesinmi, paid a condolence visit to actress Peju Ogunmola following the sudden death of her only son, Ayomikun, aged 24.
The actors gathered at Ogunmola’s family home, where they comforted her and her husband, veteran comic actor, Sunday Omobolanle (Papi Luwe).
Photos and videos from the visit showed colleagues embracing the grieving parents and offering prayers, with many unable to hold back tears.
The tragedy, which has shocked the Yoruba movie industry, occurred on September 2, 2025, when Ayomikun died after reportedly slipping and falling in a bathroom abroad.
The deceased had only recently completed his NYSC programme, a milestone his mother celebrated in June.
News of the loss first surfaced online through filmmaker, Seun Oloketuyi, and was later confirmed by colleagues including Odunlade Adekola, who shared condolences publicly.
Since then, stars such as Femi Adebayo, Kunle Afod, Lateef Adedimeji, Toyin Abraham, Yinka Quadri, and Prince Jide Kosoko have joined fans in mourning, flooding social media with tributes and prayers for the family.
Daughter of theatre icon Kola Ogunmola, Peju has built her own legacy as a respected actress and producer in Yoruba cinema.
Married to Papi Luwe, she shared Ayomikun as her only child, making his passing a devastating blow both personally and for Nollywood at large.
