Calm has been restored to the Ikoyi Correctional Centre in Lagos, following an attempted jailbreak this morning.
There were also reports of a fire outbreak in the facility during the melee that accompanied the incident.
Soldiers and policemen were drafted to the scene to provide backup for the prison guards.
Social media photos show that the restive inmates have been subdued and the situation brought under control.
