Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P and one half of the former music duo, P-Square, has formally adjusted the date of his birthday celebration from November 18 to November 30.
The move appears to be a personal redefinition of his identity away from longstanding shared traditions with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
The twin brothers, born on November 18, 1981, had for years jointly celebrated their birthdays, reflecting their close personal and professional partnership during their time as P-Square, one of Africa’s most successful Afrobeats groups.
However, Peter has now indicated that he will no longer acknowledge or accept birthday wishes, messages, or gifts on November 18, stating that the change is a personal decision.
He has instead designated November 30 as the date for his own celebration going forward.
The development comes against the backdrop of the long-running and highly publicised rift between the Okoye twins.
P-Square, which rose to continental and international prominence in the 2000s and 2010s, first split in 2017 following disagreements over management and family involvement in their business affairs.
Although the duo reunited in 2021 to the excitement of fans, tensions resurfaced, and by 2024 the group effectively disbanded once again.
Earlier in 2026, Peter publicly described any prospect of another reunion as “done and dusted”, signalling a definitive end to the musical partnership that defined much of their careers.
Industry observers note that the latest move reinforces the continuing separation between both brothers’ personal and professional identities, as they each pursue independent careers within the entertainment industry.
While neither Peter nor Paul has issued a joint statement on the birthday change, the development has continued to generate reactions among fans of the iconic duo, many of whom still associate the pair with their shared legacy in Afrobeats history.
