The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has indefinitely postponed its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting earlier scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, citing recent developments within the party.

In a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the National Working Committee (NWC) said the decision was taken during an emergency meeting held on Monday in accordance with Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).

A new date for the NEC meeting will be communicated to members in due course.

The postponement comes amid renewed calls for unity within the party, as Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, urged PDP members to remain steadfast and strengthen the party from within rather than defecting in frustration.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Transportation Sub-Committee of the party in Abuja, Makinde likened the PDP to a resilient family home built on democratic ideals and social justice, insisting that true loyalty is tested in difficult times.

He cautioned that political endurance, not opportunism, would define the next generation of party leaders, noting that “those who stand firm for the PDP now will become the authentic heroes of the party’s renewal.”

Makinde’s remarks are widely seen as an attempt to rally members amid internal divisions and uncertainty surrounding the forthcoming national convention.

His message of “holding your corner” echoed across party circles as the PDP works to rebuild its internal cohesion and public credibility ahead of crucial political contests.
