Patriots Inaugurate Constitution Advocacy Committee: Kila Appointed as Chairman

The Emeka Anyaoku-led group of eminent Nigerians, widely recognized as The Patriots, has inaugurated an Advocacy Committee dedicated to the Actualization of the People’s Constitution.

According to a statement released today, the 17-member committee will be chaired by Professor Anthony Kila, a distinguished political economist and Professor of Strategy and Development.

The committee’s mandate is to engage with key stakeholders and the broader public across the nation to advance the cause of a people’s constitution. During the inauguration, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations and leader of The Patriots, highlighted that the committee will soon initiate outreach efforts, starting with members of the National Assembly.

The inauguration, held both in Lagos and virtually, was attended by notable leaders of The Patriots, including General Ike Nwachukwu, Obong Victor Attah, Professor Anya O. Anya, Dr. Bilikisu Magoro, Professor Remi Sonaiya, Elder Solomon Asemota, Ambassador Tokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, and Senator Ben Obi.

In his acceptance speech, Professor Anthony Kila expressed gratitude to Chief Anyaoku and the leadership of The Patriots for the honor of chairing the committee. He emphasized the committee’s commitment to informing, engaging, and gathering input from various segments of the public.

Professor Kila also revealed that the committee will soon engage with members of the National Assembly, traditional leaders, students, and the corporate sector.

The other members of the Constitution Advocacy Committee include Senator Shehu Sani, Dr. Bilikisu Magoro (Executive Secretary), Deacon Chris Iyovwaye, Alhaji Shettima Yerima, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, Mr. Samson Itodo, Madu Bright O. Alwell, Ms. Ann Kio Briggs, Mr. Fafa Dan Princewill, Mr. Zaka Bala, Mr. Kayode Samuel, Barr. Affiong L. Affiong, and Mr. Salvation Alibor.

The Patriots recently met with President Bola Tinubu to advocate for the adoption of a people’s democratic constitution.
