The Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces & Other Security Agencies (PASNAFOSA) has commended the Nigeria Police Force for intercepting a truckload of military camouflage, firearms and illicit substances in Lagos State, describing the operation as a major boost to the country’s fight against crime and insecurity.
The group also praised the Lagos State Police Command for the arrest of 38 foreign nationals in the Epe area of the state, saying the operation underscored the proactive efforts of the police in preventing potential security threats.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, PASNAFOSA lauded the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, for what it described as the successful execution of the operation.
According to the organisation, the recovery and public display of thousands of military camouflage uniforms, assorted firearms and prohibited substances demonstrated the command’s vigilance, professionalism and commitment to safeguarding national security.
The group said the arrest of the foreign nationals, whose mission in Nigeria could not be satisfactorily established, reflected the Nigeria Police Force’s determination to identify and neutralise potential threats before they escalate into serious security breaches.
PASNAFOSA equally commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, for providing what it described as purposeful and inspiring leadership that has translated into notable operational successes across the country.
It noted that the achievements were particularly significant given Nigeria’s prevailing security challenges and the strategic importance of Lagos as the nation’s commercial and economic hub.
Describing the recent operations as a clear demonstration of the vigilance and resilience of the police, the group also applauded officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their courage and sacrifices in protecting lives and property despite difficult and often life-threatening conditions.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to praying for divine wisdom, strength and protection for security personnel, expressing confidence that their continued efforts would lead to greater victories against criminality and contribute to lasting peace across the country.
PASNAFOSA also urged security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the immediate release of schoolchildren and teachers still being held by abductors, warning that every additional day in captivity deepens the suffering of affected families.
While acknowledging the enormous challenges confronting security operatives, the group appealed to Nigerians to support security agencies instead of resorting to blanket condemnation.
It stressed that the nation’s security personnel continue to make enormous sacrifices daily, often separated from their families, to protect communities and preserve national stability.
The organisation further called on citizens to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information, insisting that securing Nigeria remains a collective responsibility requiring active collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public.
