Oyo Partners NCC to Launch Toll Free Security Emergency Number

Ololade Adeyanju/

Oyo State government has launched a security emergency number to further boost response time of security agencies and emergency service providers in the state.

The new number, 615, is toll free.

The development was a fallout of the government’s ongoing partnership with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The state governor, Seyi Makinde, who disclosed this in a tweet today, said it was meant to create a “more effective communications centre” in the state.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the idea was muted by the governor when he met with representatives of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), led by the Head, Emergency Communication Centre, Mr Mohammed L. Ibrahim, in his office in Ibadan on August 8.

Tweeting about the meeting then, the governor had stated: “We spoke about productive collaboration between the NCC and Oyo State as a stakeholder. I was particularly interested in having a more effective emergency communication centre in Ibadan.”
