Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has alleged that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde agreed to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on the condition that he would be offered the party’s Vice-Presidential ticket alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Fayose, who has in recent months frequently disclosed what he describes as the hidden political manoeuvres of Makinde, said the meeting took place in Minna, Niger State, on Tuesday and was carefully organised to ensure “confidence and acceptability” among key stakeholders.

According to the former governor, Makinde pledged N10 billion, to be released in two tranches, as an initial contribution to what he called a “proper take-off” of the ADC, with additional funds to follow once the campaign begins.

Fayose claimed the discussion also touched on electoral strategy.

Makinde reportedly assured that he would deliver Southwest delegates for the ADC primary and leverage the influence of his wife, a native of Rivers State, to secure votes in the South-South region.

He allegedly suggested that dividing the Southwest vote would give the ADC a tactical advantage in the general election.

The former governor added that a follow-up meeting has been scheduled in Dubai, UAE, within the next two weeks.

Political analysts note that Fayose’s disclosure reflects his ongoing focus on Makinde’s political moves, which has stirred public curiosity and speculation ahead of the 2027 elections.
