The Oyo State Government said that it had spent a total of N2,779,000,000 on the fight against COVID-19 in the state.

Commissioner for Finance, Mr Akinola Ojo, gave the breakdown after the State Executive Council meeting, yesterday.

Ojo said a total of N900.5 million was spent on procurement of the COVID-19 palliatives and seedlings; N370.6 million was spent on the upgrade of the Infectious Diseases Centre at Olodo; N453.7 million on securing borders, security trucks and personnel; N118 million as support to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, for COVID-19 tests.

Also, a total of N614.7 million was spent on testing, kits and medical consumables, while N321.2 million was expended on purchase of ambulances.

He stated further that N156 million was set aside for volunteers as 15,000 hazard allowance from June, backdated to March.

He said donations from individuals and corporate institutions amounted to N1.2 billion, out which N378.1 million is yet to be spent.

He added that the state also got N250 million donation from the CACOVID, while it is expecting about N100 million from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
