The Oyo State Government has announced traffic restrictions on key routes leading to Mapo Hall ahead of the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, scheduled for Friday.
President Bola Tinubu is expected to attend the historic ceremony at Mapo Hall.
In a traffic advisory issued on Tuesday, the security sub-committee of the coronation planning committee, chaired by Chief Bayo Oyero, said the diversions are necessary to ensure security and ease of movement during the event.
The affected roads, which will be closed from 7am on Friday, include Beere Junction inward Mapo Hall, Born Photo Junction inward Oja’ba, Idi-Arere Junction inward Oja’ba, and Itamerin Junction inward Mapo Hall.
To ease access, three official car parks have been designated: the Ibadan North Local Government car park in front of the Immigration Office, Agodi; the football field beside Yemetu Police Station; and Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado. Shuttle buses will transport invited guests from these points to Mapo Hall.
The committee also directed that vendors must arrive between 6am and 6.45am, while only the convoys of the President and the Oyo State Governor will be permitted to use the restricted roads.
