The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has announced a significant influx of applications for teaching positions, with over 55,000 submissions received as of this morning.

The state is recruiting 7000 teachers.

Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Chairman of the Board, highlighted that in a bid to motivate the teachers, the Board plans to assign each teacher to their local government of residence. This initiative is expected to foster community involvement and enhance the educational experience for students and teachers alike.

Addressing concerns about the content of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for applicants, Dr. Adeniran assured that to avoid any controversies, religious questions will be excluded from the examination. He emphasized that applicants should prepare thoroughly for the subsequent stages of the selection process, as only candidates who meet the qualifications will be considered for employment.

Dr. Adeniran said, “We have been receiving messages on the prospects of applicants without the licence of TRCN. No doubt, as a teacher, you must register with the council. However, we will allow them to apply. Those employed without the certificate must as a matter of duty, register immediately.

“This present government is planning to recruit 7,000 teachers and we are keen on employing duly qualified ones. Those who are licensed by the TRCN have added advantages. We do not want quacks, this is why the examination process will take written and oral stages. If you are lucky to be employed, without a TRCN licence, you must get it, as soon as you can.”

The announcement underscores the Board’s commitment to a fair and efficient recruitment process aimed at bolstering the quality of education in Oyo State.
