In response to growing global concerns over the behavioral shifts among youths and young adults, a dynamic Christian group led by Youth Pastor Adekunmi Brown has taken up the mantle of rekindling the spirits of those who have strayed.
The mission culminated in a transformative crusade titled The Awakening, hosted by the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Way-To-Life in Ottawa, Canada, on Friday, August 16.
The event, spearheaded by CAC North America, saw an impressive turnout of young believers from across North America and the Caribbean, including participants from Winnipeg, Calgary, Montreal, Brampton, Toronto, New York, Trinidad and Tobago, and Washington, DC. The congregation at CAC Way-To-Life, under the leadership of Pastor Adebo Adeoye, warmly welcomed these missionaries, who arrived in waves—by bus and air—filling the church with anticipation and joy.
The primary goal of the mission, as emphasized by the officiating pastors, was to guide the youth towards becoming responsible adults through strong spiritual mentorship. The message delivered was clear: reject societal vices such as violence, drug addiction, dishonesty, greed, and pride, and instead, pursue a life aligned with Christ’s teachings.
Senior Pastor Adeoye lauded the visiting missionaries for their relentless efforts in fostering positive change among the youth. His deputy, Pastor Matthew Babatunde, ensured the safe arrival of all participants, maintaining close communication throughout their journey to the 2851 Dumaurier auditorium in Ottawa.
Youth Pastor Brown’s sermon was a powerful call to action, urging the congregation to embrace the light of Christ and abandon the darkness. He drew from Ephesians 5:10-17, highlighting the importance of living wisely and making the most of every opportunity in these challenging times. He also referenced Ezekiel 37:1-14 to underscore God’s power to perform miracles.
Pastor Brown further encouraged the Ottawa congregation to remain steadfast and supportive of their leader, Pastor Adeoye, using the biblical example of Elisha and Elijah to illustrate the blessings of diligent service. His demonstration, involving his son Adetola, visually reinforced this message, emphasizing the rewards of loyalty and faithfulness.
The event also featured fervent prayer sessions led by Pastor Bolaji Oladunni, Business Group Director, and Pastor Tayo Famojuro, Youth Director for Trinidad and Tobago. Canada Youth Leader, Evangelist Daniel Dosumu, led prayers for the restoration of broken souls, while serving as the event’s moderator. The atmosphere was electrified by the musical ministrations of Mr. Femi Itasanmi, the Way-To-Life Music Director, and Sister Catherine, whose spiritual songs lifted hearts and spirits.
Evangelist Olatunde Ogunleye, popularly known as Ola Glorious, further charged the atmosphere with his soul-stirring rendition of “Taleni to nsebi oba,” drawing attendees to the altar in a fervent display of devotion. Behind the scenes, Elder Omoyeni, Director of Logistics, ensured the event ran smoothly, while Evangelist Omowunmi Adeoye, Pastor Adeoye’s wife, oversaw the hospitality team, ensuring all were well-fed during the midnight break.
The crusade, which began at 7:00 PM on Friday and continued through the night until 10:00 AM on Saturday, concluded with heartfelt thanks from Pastor Adeoye to the CAC North America team for bringing such a soul-nourishing event to Ottawa. Pastor Brown responded by expressing his team’s gratitude to the CAC Way-To-Life for their warm hospitality and for embracing the vision of the crusade.
