The Federal Government has reportedly directed the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to suspend the planned arraignment of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Channels Television News at 10 quoted Presidency sources as saying that President Muhammadu Buhari directed the police to suspend the invitation to Adeleke until after the Osun election.

Police authorities had earlier today directed Adeleke to report at the Special Investigation Panel, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Police stated that Adeleke and four others are to be arraigned in court over a charge of examination malpractice, criminal conspiracy and personation.

The police named the other suspects as: Mr Sikiru Adeleke, Alhaji Aregbesola Mufutau (Principal of Ojo-Aro Community High School, Egbedore LGA, Osun State), Mr Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo (School Staff responsible for the registration of candidates for NECO), Mr Dare Olutope (School Teacher who facilitated the commission of the crime).

The PDP in a statement, however, described the latest twist in the Adeleke Certificate Circus, leading to laughable trumped-up charges by the Police, as horrible, nauseating and displeasing.

It also warned the IG to call his officers to order.
