Former Kano State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau has formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress after a closed door meeting with top officials of the ruling party.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the APC National Chairman led a delegation of bigwigs of the party to formally meet Shekarau in Kano today.

The APC chairman and other members of delegation stormed Mundubawa Palace of the Sardauna of Kano to welcome him to join APC.

The delegation which included Kano State governor, Umaru Ganduje, was by welcomed by a huge crowd of supporters, chanting “APC”.

Shekarau, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dumped the party during the week and opted for APC.

Apparently referring to the strength of his party, the APC Acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Yekini Nabena, tweeted: “When spider web unites, they tie up lion.”
